Alamance Community College accepts F-1 international student applications for the Fall and Spring semesters only.

North Carolina Residency Determination 

The state of North Carolina has a centralized service for determining residency for students. This service enables a student to use one residency determination for admissions applications to multiple North Carolina public colleges and universities and to demonstrate residency for state aid programs consideration at all (public and private) North Carolina colleges and universities.

All Alamance Community College students must obtain a N.C. residency determination at ncresidency.org prior to submitting an ACC international application.

 

Evidence of English Competency

Students seeking the F-1 visa must show documentation of English proficiency for academic purposes through TOEFL or IELTS testing.  The follow minimum score requirements are necessary for admisson consideration: 

  • 88 Internet-based TOEFL test
  • 6.5 band score on IELTS

 

Official Transcripts

Submit official transcripts from secondary school(s) and/or college(s) attended.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide a notarized translation of all transcripts and the secure the services of an independent academic credential evaluation provider.  The following credentialing agencies are recommended:

 

Evidence of Financial Support

Alamance Community College is required by U.S. Government regulations to check the availability of adequate funding for your tuition, fees, and living expenses for the duration of your studies.  Therefore, you are required to submit a notarized ACC International Student Affidavit of Support Form with your application documents. The form is attached to the international student application, which is listed at the top of the page.

Note: The total funds on the affidavit(s) you submit – from personal sources, funding agencies, or both – must equal the total funds needed for the duration of your studies at ACC (at least two years).  However, you only need to submit evidence (bank statements, financial awards, etc.) to support your first year of study in the United States.  See estimated annual expenses here.

 

Acceptance

If accepted, the ACC International Admissions Coordinator will release an official acceptance letter and I-20 form to the applicant for use in applying for the F-1 visa in his/her home country.

Students who are issued a change of status to an F-1 visa while in the United States should notify the international advisor once the status change is approved.  Additionally, the student must submit a copy of the new F-1 visa to the international advisor. Failure to do so may result in your I-20 being canceled.
