As soon as possible! FAFSA applications are available every year on October 1st for the upcoming Fall semester.
You must fill out a new financial aid application (FAFSA) every year. Academic years run from August to July.
Your FAFSA application is valid from August to July only, no matter which semester you begin. Financial Aid awards cannot be rolled over from one academic year to another.
The new FAFSA application is available October 1st each year for the upcoming school year. You should complete the new FAFSA after you have filed your taxes. Ideally, you should fill out the new FAFSA between October 1st and March 15th to be eligible for the maximum financial aid package. Although we will accept applications submitted after these dates, your aid could be greatly decreased the longer you wait to apply since funds are often limited and come on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you, your spouse and/or your parents are not going to file a tax return, you can complete the new FAFSA as early as October 1st.
