Alamance Community College (ACC) has broken a 12-year old record by bestowing associate degrees, diplomas and certificates on 1,468 graduates – 341 more than the previous record set in 2012.
The College, founded in 1958, completed its 2023-2024 academic year with its annual commencement ceremony held at Elon University on June 14.

The College awarded a record 1,415 curriculum graduates with 748 associate degrees, 103 diplomas, and 826 certificates. High School Equivalency diplomas were presented to 53 students bringing the total to 1,468.
A second record was set with 269 high school students earning college credits including associate degrees through the free Career and College Promise (CCP) program.

A large, excited audience of parents, family members, and other guests inside Elon’s Alumni Gymnasium also heard from keynote speaker Jack Overacre, a 1969 graduate who worked his way up the corporate ladder at IBM, serving as Vice President of Technology Operations for the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics, the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. His accolades include The IBM Excellence Award and the Leader of the Pack Award. Today Overacre works for IBM’s infrastructure services division known as Kyndryl.
Dr. Ken Ingle, who began his duties as president on February 1, presided over his first commencement ceremony as the new leader of Alamance Community College.
